SparkTank uses a new process of neural collaboration (aka: neural meetings) that enables concurrent or simultaneous streams of ideation on the same topic. The platform guides a "host" through a set of questions to assist in framing your problem or creating a topic for idea generation. The platform then creates a "challenge" that can be posted for colleagues, customers, event or meeting participants.
Participants follow prompts provided by the platform to contribute to a solution or a new idea. Ideas are then shared randomly for expansion and evolution.

The methods of brainstorming and general ideation have not changed since the 1980s. Although human centred design has become mainstream, and are now incorporated into business practice, the methods have not advanced. SparkTank questions have been developed based on extensive research into the creativity process. The facilitation process is one of the unique features of the tool.
